On Saturday, June 27th, the music industry talked business, drank, and celebrated at Mdundo Purple Noise. Held at Trib3 Lagos, Victoria Island, it was a one-day event that brought together key stakeholders across the African music ecosystem through insightful conversations, artist-fan engagement, and entertainment.

In partnership with Chocolate City, Mavin Records, Rebirth Music, MAD Solutions, and RhythmX Distro, alongside event production partner Ward'99, the day was structured around three core experiences: a panel session, an artist-fan engagement session, and an after-party. By the end of the night, it had delivered on all three.

The first panel session, moderated by Bello Ibrahim Olaoluwa, Head of Digital Products & Distribution at RhythmX Distro, brought together Igbokwe Amaechi Dandric (MAZZI) of Rebirth Music and Longitude Africa, Tamunosaki "Tami" Romeo of Mavin Records, and Tobechukwu Ezeamaku of Rebirth Music Africa.

The panel unpacked artist growth and executive growth side by side, and the very real conversation around how not to lose yourself inside an industry that moves as fast as this one does. There was honest talk about how to build real relationships in a business built on networks, and practical talk about goal-setting, scaling, and expanding. Questions were asked, lessons were learned, and the conversation never felt like a lecture. It felt like people who have lived this industry, telling the truth about it.

After the weight of the first panel, guests moved into a wine tasting session with Kagor, a sweet red wine that, by every account, won over the room. It was the kind of pause an event like this needed, letting the morning's conversation settle in before the next wave of the day began.

The second panel shifted the focus to something every artist could relate to. The session was moderated by Oluwatomisin Afolabi of Mavin Records and featured Uchenna Nwaokoro of MAD Solutions & Engage LLC. The artists present to speak were Bayanni, Martin Feelz, EMO Grae, and KODEE.

The conversation centred on community building, how these artists grew their fanbase, and how fan interaction translates into longevity. They spoke about their most surprising fan interactions, and how they turned embarrassing moments into a way to win over a fan.

The room then came together for a surprise birthday celebration for Bayanni. Cake, cheers, and a room full of people celebrating him. It was truly a wholesome event, one that honoured both the business and the joy of music.

By the time DJ Nillz and DJ Yeyeboi took over the decks for the after-party, the room had shifted entirely, from boardroom energy to pure celebration.

Mdundo Purple Noise was more than a one-day event; it was a statement about what's possible when an industry chooses to show up for itself. As African music continues its

global rise, platforms like Mdundo remain committed to creating spaces where the people who make the music, the people who manage it, and the people who love it can come together, not just to talk about the future, but to build it.
