A Night of Glory: The 17th Crown Gospel Music Awards



The 17th Crown Gospel Music Awards lit up the Gallagher Convention Centre on Sunday night, honoring the remarkable talent and dedication within South Africa's gospel music scene. The event was a powerful celebration of faith, artistry, and the enduring impact of gospel music, made even more poignant by the remembrance of the late founder, Zanele Mbokazi, whose vision brought this platform to life.


Celebrating Excellence in Gospel Music

Andile Ka Majola was crowned the Best Gospel Artist of the year, a testament to his enduring influence and commitment to the genre. Meanwhile, Xolly Mncwango shone as the Best Female Gospel Artist, and Rofhiwa Manyaga took home the award for Best Male Gospel Artist, both embodying the spirit and vibrancy of South African gospel music.

Kingmusic was a standout winner, taking home two awards for Best Contemporary Song and Best Rap Gospel, demonstrating the genre's ability to embrace modern sounds while delivering powerful spiritual messages. Similarly, UNLTD claimed the Best Newcomer award, a promising start to a career that is already capturing hearts.


Group accolades went to Worship House, who secured Best Gospel Group and Best Gospel Sound, showcasing their unmatched synergy and musical prowess. In the visual category, Sibusiso Nzima triumphed with Best Video, while Ncebakazi Msomi took home Best Worship Song, further diversifying the night’s honors.


Honoring Legacy and Innovation

Among the night’s other notable wins, Sbu Noah was recognized for Best Gospel Album, and Kekeletso Phoofolo took home the award for Best Gospel Live Event/Recordings, highlighting the importance of excellence both in studio and live performances. The Classic of All Times award went to Solly Mahlangu, celebrating his timeless contributions to the genre.

On the broadcast front, Thapelo Mnisi received recognition for Best Gospel TV Show, underscoring the role of media in promoting and preserving gospel music.

This year’s awards night wasn’t just about celebrating wins—it was a heartfelt showcase of how gospel music continues to evolve while remaining true to its roots. The event also paid tribute to the late Zanele Mbokazi, honoring her vision and the legacy she left behind.
